Darren Rowse over at ProBlogger posted some excellent advice yesterday for new and aspiring bloggers.

there's nothing more important to work on than You the Product

there's nothing more important to work on than You the Product

As Darren and many others have proven, blogging can be an effective way to improving You the Product. Darren has turned blogging into a fulltime job by making ProBlogger one of the most popular blogs on the planet. He’s even written a book about his journey. You can do the same.

Blogging is a fun way to share your exertise, wherever that lies. Model airplanes, liberal politics, the oil industry, working from home–anyone with something valuable to say can carve out and own a blogging niche.

Blogging also can help you help you professionally. It allows you to explore and increase your understanding of important ideas. It also can show potential employers you are an active, interested member of a professional community.

All that said, blogging isn’t easy. It takes thought, time, and dedication. Most importantly, you need to deliver something of value to your audience.

If you want to start your own journey, I’ll add one piece of advice to Darren’s list: blog your passion.
